With the initiative of Grigol Robakidze University Scientific-Research Institute of History and Geography of Georgian Emigration, the discussion of five-volume edition of Grigol Robkidze’s creative work was held in the Conference Hall of the University on March 19, 2013. The five-volume edition was published by Giorgi Leonidze State Museum of Georgian Literature with the financial support of “Magti”. It was compiled by the Head of the Editorial Department, Ms Lali Tsomaia. Besides Professors and students of Grigo Robakidze University, leading specialists and professors of the State Museum of Georgian Literature, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State university, the National Centre of Manuscripts, the Institute of History of Georgian Literature, Ilia State University as well as the researchers interested in Robakidze’s creative work participated in the discussion.
The Director of the Scientific-Research Institute of History and Geography of Georgian Emigration, Professor Paata Natsvlishvili opened the discussion. It was followed a very interesting speech made Professor Rusudan Nishnianidze. Speech was made by the researchers of Georgian emigration: Professor Rusudan Daushvili, Head of Giorgi Machabeli Charity Foundation, Professor Otar Janelidze, Head of Ivane Javakhishvili University Museum of Georgian Emigration Rusudan Kobakhidze, collaborate of the National Centre of Manuscripts Eter Kavtaradze, collaborates of the Institute of History of Georgian Literature – translator of Grigol Robakidze’s German works Manana Kvataia and Professor Nona Kupreishvili; also, Professor of Guram Tavartkiladze Teaching University Dali Chikviladze and Professor of Grigol Robakidze University Mikheil Gogatihvili who called five-volume edition og Grigol Robakidze’s creative work Mega Edition.
The researchers unanimously stated that such edition is very rare in the history of Georgian culture and added that Ilia Chavchavadze was the only Georgian writer whose works were edited in such a way. They spoke about Lali Tsomaia’s great merit in compiling this edition and underlined the significance of the academic character of the edition, its scientific value, indices, illustrations and introduction. It was proposed to publish even more complete, six-volume edition of Grigol Robakidze’s creative work what will be accomplished by Grigol Robakize University. The Vice-Rector of Grigol Robakidze University, Professor Nino Kemertelidze announced the decision of the Academic Committee that awarded the compiler of the five-volume edition Lali Tsomaia the title of Doctor Honoris Causa for her merit in immortalizing Grigol Robakidze’s creative work.
Lali Tsomaia tried to express her gratitude for highly estimating her many years work, but she was too excited to make a speech and expressed her gratitude only with the tears of happiness.
