The Simulated Techniques laboratory is truly unique in Georgia. It gave the Department of Dentistry Disciplines the opportunity to hold pre-clinic training for students what increased significantly the experience of clinical practice and the professional expertise of graduates. At the laboratory students do all kinds of manipulations on model dolls. A model is virtually identical to a human's facial-maxilla construction. Thus, students work on, for example, teeth of the model. With a professional drilling-machine they can fill teeth or, they can make an extraction.
A model is constructed to respond in the following way: if an anesthetic injection is made properly, a bulb fixed on the head of the model lights up. But if an injection is not made in a proper way the bulb does not light at all. Students also prepare and make dentures at this laboratory. After passing this training students continue their practice in the dentistry clinic where, under supervision, they are absolutely free of any kind of psychological complex while having contacts with a real patient. They do all kinds of manipulations and make individual treatment schemes properly.
The computer sited on each bench of the laboratory of stimulated techniques helps this process. These computers enable students to watch not only specific films about carrying out real manipulations, but also those computer teaching programmes, which were produced by the Department of Dentistry Disciplines of Grigol Robakidze University.
